Commission for Hallvar on DA.

Story behind this pic:

The mob mistook Sarah for someone else, and before she could even protest she was gagged and put into the stocks. Attached to a heavy ball and chain, poor Sarah was thrown into the sea. Just when Sarah was about to run out of air, she suddenly transformed into a mermaid. She was saved, but still tied up and helpless.

This one took a while, but it was fun. I still feel like I have trouble drawing anime styled characters, but whatever. I took the liberty of playing around with new shading approaches, but semi-regret trying to paint shade the background. But again, whatever, practice makes... progress. :B

Anime style seems to be largely in the shading and proportions of body parts. It also helps that anime in general is drawn comic style, in cells, in such a way that the proportions of a character can change from cell to cell to reflect their mood. Single static images would certainly make practicing difficult.
