I'm not going to spoil things but the pun in the title strongly suggests he's becoming a bird known for being able to carry heavily armored knights in battle without even slowing down.
And yes, Nika really does need to be more upfront if she doesn't want people to start saying to beware of big toothy grins. Not that people commissioning the art want to be forewarned..

Probably meant to be eating it because Chocobos love their gysahl greens lol (I've also been known to transform after eating one when I'm still human)

I see what you me and you are not the only one to think he is giving them a tip, though I do rather like this idea. The original idea is he would eat it but I see now I should have found a way to add in additional panel to really show that more clearly.
