Because Harmonious Percussion decided to test one of the Lamiňík made darts/syringes, filled with assimilative goo. Once hit, the pirate was slowly started falling asleep. The goo spreading on his torso, he grabbed at it in panic. Which just made it worse as it changed color and started to spread on his arm. ...
