Terrified

A person stuck in a crevice makes a wish to become unstuck. Their wish is granted, but the effects are beyond their imagination. Unstuck, but slowly turning into a ball python, they slither their way to freedom. It's a freedom that will last only until they have to explain why they've become a giant snake, or when they get collected as one of Yavalech's pets. The lucky beings who find one of Yavalech's artifacts in life are granted new powers at the expense of slowly turning into a snake or snake hybrid. It does not matter who they are in life; in death their metamorphoses are made permanent and they come to serve as pets and servants. The eldritch horror loves its pet snakes and often allows them to keep vestigial features of their previous species. They never forget their forced metamorphoses.
