Remember these boys from the kitsune comic? If you didn't see it you should go back and look. Page:1 tail sprouts, wool appears on legs, face morphs...
I love his little snout in the middle-right panel.
The ending in the third image is rather childishly cute. This series (which I hope will continue) reminds me of Goofus and Gallant or something, except they're both Goofus.
Now I'll tell the reason for the leaf on his head.
In many of the old stories, tanukis put a leaf on their heads. Somehow it helps them hold the form of whatever they have turned themselves into. They can do it without the leaf if they practice enough.
Mario's leaf power up in SMB3 is a reference to this old piece of folklore but it was lost on American gamers. Mario also can get a tanuki suit which allows him to become a statue. That's a common tanuki trick.
Well, they'd better keep away from the "Frogurt" stand, then....(Incidentally, I appreciate the character's comment: It's far preferable to be foxy than to get fleeced....) 7@=e

Those Tanukis can be tricky! I wonder what he'll do to them next!

Now for a little trivia. Can anybody here guess why the old man has a leaf on his head?
RustyRacoon
SMB3 reference?
RustyRacoon
Maybe offer them an all expenses paid vacation to pleasure island lol.

Another nice comic sequence. Keep up the great work.

Japanese tanuki statues are typically depicted wearing the leaf on the head.

I don't know how they'd feel, but I'd rather see them as foxes as well.
I wonder where they'll end up next?

Kelvin, you rock! I'd love to see these guys in more situations, baa-a-a-a-h! ^_^

If we had the choice, I would opt for the Pleasure Island idea too. :)
