I always wonder about the additional heads tf, do they all have his same personality or different aspects of his personality or completely different personalities?

I think this is more mario 3, where you can only open one box in the toad houses.
multiple head transformations aren't real so it can be anything you want it to be silly
There are lots of video games where there is 3 chest and you only can pick one of them.
There is that game called Rogue Legacy where you sometime get to that 3 chest room too. It could be from that too. ._.
But I think the Mario Bros 3 is indeed more probable.

Considering how far apart the three chests are, I'd imagine they were three people now 1 three-headed dragon. o.o
