Lu’s animal forms didn’t have spots when she was younger. Shapeshifting magic taps into a person’s appearance and personality when it creates an animal form for them (It can also mimic the shifters's outfit) but it’s not super consistent. Still, something in Lu’s character must have settled in order to make her spotty from her teenage years onward. It could be her messy nature or the fact that she’s human and lots of more “domestic” chomers have spots. Who knows!
