Summoning rule #6: Make sure your circle is emptied completely before citing a summoning spell. The summon could manifest itself in the object, or organism, inside the circle.

In the event that a summoning spell has been initiated with any matter inside the circle, this matter should be unable to traverse past its edge before the object or creature you are summoning has completely materialized. Any attempts to enter the circle during this time should result in a similar fate as the object/organism is undergoing.

But of course, unless your intention is to cause someone to violently transform into say, a huge dragon, you can forgo this rule and tell your friend to stay put right in the center as you summon one. ;)
