Every year the Pterodactyl people host an event of mass transformation at a number of their colonies. Attendees come from all kinds of backgrounds, species, and gender, and make the trip to the event to feel flight for the first time. Some of them are shapeshifters there to enjoy the shift again. As the people become pterodactyls they can feel the empathic connection that the species has with their own, spreading a sense of euphoria across the flock. Many of the transformees who come to the event will join the flock permanently, and each year they leave behind a cliffside covered in dust and the possessions of their past lives. It is both a practical and symbolic gesture. The jewelry, electronics, and treasure left behind is seen as only token appreciation by the transformed; for what can they give to the nest in thanks for a gift that is priceless?
I have written a journal on the spiritual inspiration that drove me to create this TF; it can be read here:

Great idea but wouldn‘t it be more logical to undress before ripping all those clothes? I mean they KNOW that they‘ll tranform and will shift back… so why not preserving the clothes?

Thanks for your comment! Most of the attendees wear clothing that will not restrict their new tail or wing membranes. The transformee in front in the the pink dress has long vertical slits in the sides to allow wing membranes to grow unrestrained by fabric. On the right side, a transformee wearing a black shirt has a visible line going from the end of the cuff to the hem. That shirt is designed to split to allow for the growth of wings. A few folk have shown up to the event wearing ill-fitting pterodactyl clothing. Only some few prefer to shred their clothes, as for them, it is a symbolic gesture.

Thanks for the explanation. I like that there is a reason behind it! I‘d still opt for undressing first, because i think human clothing would be a hindrance in flight for a pterodactyl… :)

Perfectly understandable! If you live among them long enough, you might find some garment that would strike your fancy. The Nest is always working on new clothing for the Flock, be it stylish or aerodynamic; for there is no greater joy than to share happiness with a pterodactyl. ^v^
