Meet Keelee Robinson, better known as "Tear-o-Dactyl", the transforming Internet sensation! Dropped in a baby box with only a note and a name, she was adopted by the Robinsons who thought she had vitiligo they could exploit for social media credit. When her dark and light patterns turned to a sky and cloud color and she began shifting, they realized she was a werepterodactyl and abandoned her as a teenager some years later.
Since Keelee retains her pterodactyl coloration in human form, she can not pass for a human and gets ostracized often. Despite her kind and sharing disposition, she has few friends and struggles to maintain a job. Her troubles are compounded by bigots delaying her fishing license indefinitely, denying her most forms of employment, and declining to issue her a GED. Poverty and loneliness has lead her to live a dreary existence alone in a 600 SF (55m2) apartment on a high floor in decaying projects.
Keelee isn't contagious and has control over her shifts except when strong emotions force her to change. Now 23, she is hounded by youtubers who harass her until she transforms on camera. When not screeching in despair or terror, Keelee is a soft-spoken and considerate werepterodactyl that likes comic books and writes fan fiction of her favorite cartoon, K-Krew. She re-imagines a werepterodactyl villain from K-Krew as a hero who *turns people into dinosaurs consensually* in a world alarmingly replete with humans who secretly want to be ancient reptiles. This adds fodder to her tormentors, who keep an archive of everything she's uploaded. Her kindness, curiosity, empathy and sincerity are all overshadowed by the clips posted online; her poaching of fish, berries, unusual appearance, and the ease at which she cries and morphs from provocation.
Keelee still hasn't met another werepterodactyl and longs to find people who understand her. Ironically, the shapeshifter is endlessly looking for a change. She wants to flock with her kind, but spends most of her time searching for work, re-applying for her fishing license, rebuffing attacks, and retreating into fiction. She fantasizes about being a hero, but she needs one herself.
Will there ever be anyone to love and protect her?

Why do I feel like a lot of people would do exactly those kinds of negative things to a person like that? Though I am sure a lot would not as well
